Learning Management System Design

A fully developed and professional Learning Management System built on the Absorb platform. A complete project from inception to active management of 4,000 users.

Project Overview

When I joined IPHI, there was no learning management system in place—just a scatter of spreadsheets, emails, and Google Drive folders that made training tracking nearly impossible. I led the complete build-out of our first LMS, overseeing every step: needs assessment, vendor interviews, platform selection, contract negotiation, branding, implementation, and ongoing management.

The goal was simple but critical: centralize content, streamline user registration, and make tracking completions effortless. I delivered on that—implementing a functional system within one month and scaling it to nearly 4,000 users over four years. I also integrated a pay-for-service model, generating over $10,000 in revenue and expanding our ability to deliver high-quality public health and community health worker training.

The impact was immediate and profound. Reporting that once took days or weeks could now be completed in minutes. Staff and trainers had clear, consistent processes. Learners had smoother access to training. And for the first time, the organization had full visibility into its training efforts—all in one place.

The system’s success wasn’t just technical—it was strategic. I developed new internal workflows, trained staff, and adapted the platform to meet evolving needs. Building the plane while flying it, I was the sole lead on this effort—and the work simply wouldn’t have been possible without this system in place.

The same Learning Management System customized for a specific project and organization. I completely designed the appearance and alternate functionality, recommending enhancements and changes to the existing system.
