The Health Equity Equation

Designed to highlight pressing and emerging public health issues that have significant impact on health equity and racial justice.

Project Overview

I pressed for the creation The Equity Equation to push the Institute for Public Health Innovation toward its namesake: innovation. The vision was to position IPHI as a thought leader in the public health space while highlighting the voices of people doing vital, equity-driven work across systems and communities.

Each webinar was built around a simple but powerful formula: data + policy + fieldwork. I brought together three speakers per session - a data specialist, a policymaker, and a frontline organization to build a 360-degree view of an issue. Whether addressing black maternal health during Black Maternal Health Week or unpacking U.S. life expectancy declines following a major report from Virginia Commonwealth University, we made sure the topics were timely, relevant, and grounded in equity.

I led concept development, coordinated speakers, guided content planning, and helped weave each set of presentations into a cohesive, narrative-driven webinar. I also collaborated with our marketing and public health teams to amplify reach and ensure each event was aligned with strategic priorities.

What set The Equity Equation apart was its intentional synthesis. It wasn’t just about information sharing, it was about connection. The result was a powerful platform that not only amplified underrepresented voices, but also helped establish IPHI as a bold, forward-thinking presence in public health.
