eLearning Project Overview
Designed for the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center and the Montana Department of Health and Human Services. This training was to help address suicide prevention in the state of Montana.
Project Overview
I led the instructional design and full development of an eLearning course on suicide prevention, created for the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center using original content from the Montana Department of Health and Human Services. The original material (a dense, text-heavy live training) was reimagined into a compelling and accessible digital format built in Storyline 360.
My role spanned every part of the production process: instructional design, writing the narrative script, developing learner interactions, creating visual layouts, and generating realistic narration using ElevenLabs AI voice tools. I was especially focused on crafting a tone that balanced emotional sensitivity with clinical clarity, essential for a topic as nuanced as suicide prevention.
The course was developed for a wide professional audience: public health staff, healthcare workers, and community members in Montana who may encounter suicide risk in their roles. I integrated key regional considerations such as rural isolation, firearm access, and loneliness, ensuring the content was not only factually accurate but also contextually grounded.
The biggest challenge was transforming complex, sensitive content into something engaging and digestible - without losing its weight. I’m proud of how this course came together and how it modeled respectful, clear communication around an often-taboo topic. While it’s hard to measure the precise impact of any single public health training, the client was highly satisfied with the final product, and I hope it continues to support life-saving work on the ground.
